Shropshire Charity Network meeting resources

During September, Selina Graham, Chair of the Board of Trustees, joined Victoria Handbury-Madin (MCIOF) and Clair Moelwyn-Williams at their bi-monthly Shropshire Charity Network meeting; you can access all the resources and find a summary of the event below.

Introducing the Shropshire Community Foundation

Selina was thrilled to be greeted by over fifty individuals from across the county who are working within the charity sector. She received a warm welcome as she shared news about the foundation’s progress over the past 12 months and also our ambitious plans for the future.

If you were unable to attend the event, you can watch a recording here.

What is a community foundation?

A key part of Selina’s presentation was to explain the role of a community foundation. Before SCF was set up last year, the county was one of very few in England not to have its own Foundation. Since our launch we have begun working with businesses with corporate social responsibility who want to make a positive impact in the county, philanthropic individuals looking to donate or leave a legacy gift in their will, and existing charitable organisations looking for support to distribute their funds.

You can find a copy of Selina’s slide deck here.

Cyber security

Selina was also joined by Lewis Hardy from Start Tech. Lewis covered all things cyber security in the charity sector, sharing case studies on recent attacks against charities, along with sharing helpful information on the Cyber Essentials Plus Accreditation and potential Government Funding.
