The Scam Awareness and Victim Support Fund aims to empower community organisations to deliver targeted scam awareness and victim support, aligning with West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion’s Safer Communities Plan.

The main objectives of the fund are to:

  1. Enhance Scam Awareness:

Educate residents across Shropshire about common scams and prevention strategies.

  1. Support Scam Victims:

Provide direct support services to scam victims, including counselling, financial advice, and assistance with reporting incidents.

  1. Strengthen Community Policing:

Assess the effectiveness of funded projects in reducing scam incidents and supporting victims.

  1. Evaluate Impact:

Assess the effectiveness of funded projects in reducing scam incidents and supporting victims

Submission Deadline: All applications must be submitted online by 5pm Monday 8th September 2025.

A flow through grant of £20,000 is to be distributed as small grants between £500 and £2,000 to grassroots organisations across Shropshire,  Telford and Wrekin. The initiative aims to enhance scam awareness, prevent victimisation, and provide support to scam victims, particularly focusing on vulnerable groups such as older adults, rural residents, and digitally excluded individuals.

Applying organisations will be notified in late October.

Funding Period: Projects must be completed within 12 months of receiving the grant.
