Beds 2 Belly – Great Dawley Town Council

The grant funding for the Beds 2 Belly’s project, launched in March 2024, supported a wide range of community activities focused on fostering engagement and promoting sustainability. The funding allowed the team to host four planting sessions, which welcomed participants of all ages, including adults with disabilities from My Options. Alongside this, the project delivered hands-on skills workshops such as jam-making and edible hanging basket sessions, involving families and young people aged 11 to 16. Great Dawley Town Council also partnered with Telford Minds Veterans Café to prepare and share homemade soups, helping to build relationships across the community.

This project created a truly inclusive environment that welcomed people of all abilities and backgrounds. It provided practical skill development and encouraged intergenerational connection. The initiative also strengthened community partnerships and offered a chance for people to share their experiences while enjoying shared meals. Feedback highlighted the need for improved promotional strategies and the development of greater accessibility measures, such as higher raised garden beds, which are now being explored to make the space even more inclusive in future phases of the project.
