Telford & Wrekin Community Capital Grants Scheme
The purpose of the Community Capital Grants Scheme is to support improvements to community buildings in Telford & Wrekin that deliver direct, tangible benefit to local residents. The scheme aims to:
- Maximise the number of awards made
- Support small-scale and medium-scale improvements that add, refurbish, expand or repair community assets
- Strengthen the long-term sustainability of community assets across the Borough of Telford and Wrekin
- Improve accessibility, safety, footfall and energy efficiency across local facilities
Launch Date: 3rd July 2026
Closing Date: 14th August 2026
Funding Period: Projects must be completed within 12 months of receiving the grant.
Grant Details
A flow through grant of £50,000 is to be distributed as small grants to grassroots organisations across Telford and Wrekin. This will be distributed in two tiers.
Tier 1: Small Capital Grants – Grant size: £1,000–£2,500
Purpose: To fund essential small-scale improvements that keep community buildings safe, usable, and welcoming. Examples of eligible projects:
- Minor repairs (leaks, flooring, guttering)
- Equipment (tables, chairs, storage etc)
- Building-related digital infrastructure (e.g. fixed screens, hearing loops, Wi-Fi access, digital noticeboards)
- Safety improvements (lighting, security, signage)
- Small energy-efficiency measures (LEDs, thermostats)
Tier 2: Standard Capital Grants – Grant size: £3,000–£7,500
Purpose: To support more substantial improvements that deliver long-term community benefit.
Examples of eligible projects:
- Heating upgrades
- Roof or window repairs
- Accessibility improvements (ramps, doors, toilets)
- Kitchen refurbishments
- Energy-efficiency upgrades
- Security measures
