Shropshire Village Halls and Community Spaces Fund
Village halls and community buildings are vital local assets. They host social groups, health and wellbeing activities, youth provision and local services. Many are ageing and struggle to afford essential capital works.
The Millichope Foundation, in partnership with the Shropshire Community Foundation (SCF), is pleased to offer funding to support the development, improvement, and sustainability of community and village halls across Shropshire. The Shropshire Village Halls and Community Spaces Fund is designed to help local organisations enhance facilities, create welcoming spaces, and ensure that these vital hubs continue to serve as centres for community activity, social connection and local events.
We encourage applications from community groups, parish councils, and charitable organisations seeking financial support for projects that will have a lasting positive impact on the people and communities they serve.
This fund will provide capital grants to village halls and community buildings to support:
- Essential repairs and building fabric (roofs, walls, floors)
- Heating, insulation and energy efficiency
- Electrical, plumbing and fire safety works
- Accessibility improvements
- Upgrades to kitchens, toilets and meeting facilities
A flow-through grant of £7,500 is to be distributed as small grants to grassroots organisations across Shropshire (including Telford and Wrekin). There is no upper limit on individual grants but Shropshire Community Foundation will aim to support as many organisations as possible by spreading funding across multiple projects where appropriate.
Grant Amount Per Organisation: no upper limit per organisation, within the value of the fund.
Funding Period: Projects must be completed within 6 months of receiving the grant.
Opening Date: 9th February 2026
